London senior hurling manager Kevin McMullan has named St. Gabriel's forward Jack Goulding as captain for 2023.
Originally from Ballyduff, Kerry, Jack was an underage dual star for his home county winning a Munster and All-Ireland minor football double in 2016. He made his Kerry senior hurling debut in 2016 and played for four years on the team. While studying Physiotherapy at UL, he won a Fitzgibbon Cup in 2018 and was a member of their Sigerson Cup panel.
In 2017, Jack spent the summer in Boston and won a senior double, as well as the Kerry senior hurling championship with Ballyduff in the same year. He moved to London in 2019 to practice physiotherapy and has been working in the NHS at St. Thomas' Hospital in Westminster. In London, he is a dual player for St. Gabriel's in hurling and Fulham Irish in football. Jack captained St. Gabriel's to the county title last year and won the delayed 2020 football championship with Fulham.
Jack said: "This is my third full year playing with London and [I am] looking forward to a good year ahead.
"It's always tricky to build on the previous year with London, due to the high rotation every year and everyone's demands outside of hurling, but we've managed to keep the core group from last year with a few tweaks here and there so we've really seen the group gel quite quickly this year.
"We have high hopes for this year so hopefully we can gather some momentum in the league.
"It's obviously a big honour for me to captain London, my home away from home, and I'm thankful for my club St. Gabriel's to have given me the opportunity to do so."
Kevin said: "There is nobody better to captain our team. Jack is a real leader and always leads by example.
"His attitude is 150% and I like to make the captain of the county come from the winning club champions. That was St. Gabriel's so Jack fits the role perfectly."
