Training starts back this week for all underage players in Campion School. Hurling on Monday at 7.00pm and Football on Wednesday also at 7.00pm. Training continues as usual for our adult teams.

There was a great win for our Men's Footballers against Garryowen on Sunday while our Ladies lost out to Dulwich Harps on Saturday.

Next Sunday the Ladies will continue their league campaign against Tir Chonaill Gaels while the Men's Footballers are down to play St Brendans in the Murphy Cup with both games in Goodmayes.

Ladies Football:

On a sunny Saturday the Ladies played Dulwich Harps for the second weekend in a row, however it was the Harps who came away with the upper hand this time. It truly was a game of two halves as Dulwich went in at the break with a 10 point gap thanks to 4 goals and some well taken points. The Macs started the second half with a quick goal and looked to control the game however their final two strikes to the back of the net came too late as time ran out with Dulwich holding on to the slenderest of leads. It was a great display by the Ladies and they battled to the final whistle.

Mens Hurling:

Unfortunately the Hurling game scheduled for the Saturday afternoon was postponed.

Mens Football:

It was off to Montrose Park on Sunday for the Footballers and Garryowen was the opposition. Both teams started slow with only 3 points registered in the first 10 minutes with debutant Cahir McBrearty opening the scoring for the Macs with a fine left footed strike to draw level while the ever reliable Coffey edged them in front. Garryowen produced their best period of the game as the popped over 3 quick scores to retake the lead before Coffey replied with a free, however a long ball from Garryowen cause consternation in the McCurtains parallelogram the end result being a goal. The macs recovered and registered the next 3 points courtesy of brothers John and Peter Raferty and Johnny McGuigan to leave the minimum in it at half time.

The Macs started the second half the brightest and regained the lead with 2 well worked goals from McBrearty and John Raff but Garryowen refused to lie down. they battled their way back and scored 4 unanswered points. This was as close as they would get to McCurtains as points from Mark McGirr (4) and Coffey's second free of the match put McCurtains in control in the last 5 minutes. A late goal and a point from Conor Murphy put the gloss on a good team performance.

THOMAS MCCURTAINS: C. Mulrennan; M. O'Leary, K. Delahunty, M. McAuley; P. Raferty (0-1), J. Winters, B. Hourihane; J. McGuigan (0-1), N. Coffey (0-3, 2f); T. Keane, J. Raferty (1-1), S. Murphy; C. Brodigan, C.Murphy (1-1), C. McBrearty (1-1). SUBS: M. McGirr (0-4) for S. Murphy, D. Corrigan for O'Leary and E. Tyrrell for Brodigan.
