Parnells club has been on a high after the results of the weekend 16/17 September with both the U16’s and U10’s claiming silverware.  The U16 team, in a thrilling game against St Kiernans made it ‘4 in a row’ by narrowly beating St Kiernans by one point.  Congratulations to the players (who were all heroes) and management team.  The U10’s side won the James O’Brien Cup playing a number of games before beating Tara 1-8 (25-points) v Tara Gold 0-3 (9-points).

From the throw in the players fought for every ball and were relentless with Ronan and Alex Wilson starting up front getting us off to a great start as we put over a number of scores in the first zone. As the match progressed there were also some great long range scores from Thomas and Lorcan. Ben and Darragh were very strong refusing to be beaten and Alex Hipwell showed good control when in possession with Matthew Cox battling for every ball for the team.  Tara were strong but the determination, drive and skill shown by all the boys was fantastic to see as they secured the cup for the first time since 2011.

Results did not go the clubs way of the weekend 23/24 September.  The Senior team suffered a defeat in R3 of the Championship losing to Round Towers 1-13 to 2-17.  A valiant effort by the team with good football played but the game got away in the second half.  This means that the club faces a relegation game against Neasden Gaels in 2 weeks.  Similarly the U14’s lost to Tara in the Championship.  The game saw both teams battle as if their lives depended on it with fantastic talent and skills on show.  Congratulations to Taras who secured the title for the first time since 1976.  Well done to Parnells who will regroup and come back stronger.  Congratulations to our Ladies, who won the Senior Shield in the All Ireland Sevens-a fantastic achievement.

The youth are in action on the 30th September in the U18 in the League Final and the U14 Conrad Ryan Cup, also the Girls are playing on the 1st of October in the first Underage Championship; playing in Greenford and we wish all of them the best of luck.

Training:  Seniors normal training Tues and Thursday in Northwick Park, 7.30 – 9.00pm, however training on Wednesdays only for the next two weeks.  Always happy to welcome new players to an established and sociable club.  Please contact Senior Secretary Dennis Diggins on 07768352680.  Lifts can be arranged.  Training now coming to an end this week for most of our youth players, see website for more information.  If anyone is interested in attending future training sessions, please contact Youth Club Secretary, Colin Corrigan on 07917729411 or Fiona Corrigan for the girls on 07940 568702.

The club are really looking forward to the Annual Youth Golf Day taking place on the 29th of September at Sudbury Golf Club (Wembley HA0 1AL).  Tee off time between 12.00 and 1.30pm.  A fantastic response to the event so far but space for golf and the dinner still available; please contact Tim Slattery (07719 513391) and Martin Reilly (07971 028771) for further information, more details on the website.
