London Youths Committee Notes

The next meeting London Youth Committee meeting will take place on Monday the 18th of September at 8 30pm at McGovern Park GAA Grounds, West End Road, Ruislip, HA4 6QX 


Tara GFC 4th annual J Ffrench girls tournament

All roads led to sunny Greenford last Saturday as Tara GFC were hosts to their 4th Annual J Ffrench Girls 9's Football Tournament. Clubs in attendance were St Lawrence's from Manchester, John Mitchel's from Birmingham, Claddagh Gaels from Luton and from London was Parnell's, North London Shamrocks, Tir Chonaill Gaels, St Clarets, Tara's, and two overseas clubs Beann Eaidear from Howth in Dublin and Shannon Gaels from Blacklion in Cavan. This tournament is going from strength to strength with two hundred girls playing Gaelic football.


Congratulations to all Cup and Shield and Plate winners and well done to all clubs who took part in this prestigious event.

A massive thanks to Justin Ffrench from J Ffrench Ltd for sponsoring the medals and Trophys and food and to his daughter Sinéad Ffrench and Proinnsias Redican Tara President for doing the presentations with all the girls receiving a medal. 

After presentations Alan Walsh and Lisa and Bernie cooked up a lovely spread where the girls, coaches and helpers enjoyed a nice a meal thanks to our kind sponsor Justin Ffrench.

A big thanks to Tir Chonaill Gaels for the use of their grounds and the kind hospitality shown throughout the day. A big thanks to the referees James Carry, Conor Conneely, John Reap, Beano Collins, Brendan Scanell, Rebecca Mills, Noelle Cocoman, Matthew Lynch and Brian Conaghan

Thanks to Chairman Brendan Gallagher and all at Tara GFC and to Eddie and Helen McGivney Diarmuid and Proinnsias Redican, Kevin Murphy all who helped set up. Thanks to Ger and Carol O' Shea for the fixtures and to Lloyd Colfer, Secretary Tracey and Bernie Morahan for all their hard work and to everyone who helped out in any way ensuring the tournament was a great success. Thanks to all the girls who participated, coaches and as always a big thanks to the parents for their continued support in helping to promote the Gaelic games. The support from Tara and London ladies was greatly appreciated. A big thanks must go out to Colleen Lynott and the host families here in London who hosted The Shannon Gaels and showed them an amazing time on their visit.We look forward to next years tournament which will be held at TCG on the Saturday 8th of September 2018.


St Kiernan’s James O’ Brien Day

Best of luck to all teams who are taking part  at the St Kiernan’s James O’ Brien Day for  U6/U8/U10's blitz  this Saturday 16th of September at Hendon Rugby Club, Greenlands Lane, London NW4 1RL with a 12 noon start. The U10’s will be playing for both the James O’ Brien Cup and Shield.
