Tir Chonaill Gaels Club Notes – Monday 7th August 2017

Match Results

Congratulations to Paul Coggins and everyone involved with our Junior Team as they had a fantastic win in Round 1 of the Junior Football Championship. The Young Guns started the match brightly and rushed into a 2 point lead after 10 minutes, but McCurtains got themselves back into the game and levelled the match up 0-3 to 0-3 with 10 minutes remaining of the first half. The Gaels pushed on before half time however and some fine play saw them head into the break 4 points up on a score line of 0-7 to 0-3.

The 2nd half started much the same way and a lovely chipped finish from Rory Jennings over the McCurtains Keeper 5 minutes after the restart saw the first goal of the game with the Gaels solidifying their lead. McCurtains hit back with a couple scores however, and managed to grab a goal of their own midway through the 2nd half to put the pressure on the Young Guns. Thankfully they stood up to the test and managed to kick on thanks to a 2nd goal from Ryan Elliott. The lads withstood some final McCurtains attacks to run out eventual winners and register their first win of this year’s Championship Campaign.

Final Score: TCG Juniors 2-11 Thomas McCurtains 1-09

Fixture News

This weekend it’s the turn of our Seniors who will look to follow in the same vein of form as the Juniors when they kick off their Championship Campaign against Parnells at Home in Greenford. Best of luck to Lloyd and all of his staff + players.

Senior Football Championship Round 1 – TCG vs Parnells – Sunday 13th August 2017 @ 3pm in Greenford, Pitch 1.

Junior Football Championship Round 2 – TCG Juniors vs Brother Pearses – Saturday 19th August @ 3pm - Ruislip.

Please can everyone come out and support the lads in both of these important games.

Club Reunion Oct ‘17

We will host a reunion on Saturday 28th October for the teams from the early 90’s era. The 1992 Championship winning team will be honoured on what will be the 25th anniversary of that victory. This is an open invite and it will be great to see as many old and new faces as possible.
