PRO Club Notes Parnells GAA 23.7.2017

The Senior men played two very important League games with two very different results.  The game on the 19th July v Cuchulainns saw a defeat 1 – 13 to 0-08.  With only one point scored by Parnells in the first half to 1 – 05, the team fought back somewhat in the second half but could not make up for a poor start.  However, in the knowledge that a win on against the Brendan’s the following Sunday (after Neasden Gaels lost their game) could see them secure a place in the League Final; all was to play for.  A much better performance ensued in this game and a vital win was secured, 3 – 15 to 0 – 13.  The team are now looking forward to a re match v Cuchulainns in the League final on the 30th September.

The U18’s also played during the week in a League game v St Kiernans.  The team contained numerous younger players who all got off to a flying start and we led by 1 – 08 to 1 – 01 at half time with a debut goal for Niall Murphy having returned to gaelic this season after a long absence.  However the good work was undone in the second half when St Kiernans hit the back of the net 4 times in the last 15 mins thereby losing the game 1 – 17 to 5 – 07.  The actual result had no impact on the League standings and Parnells are in the Minor League Final in September.

Training:  Seniors training Tues and Thursday in Northwick Park, 7.30 – 9.00pm.  Always happy to welcome new players to an established and sociable club.  Please contact Senior Secretary Dennis Diggins on 07768352680.  Lifts can be arranged.  The Youth are coming to the end of their training as the summer holidays are upon us.  Please see website for details.  If anyone is interested in attending future training sessions, please contact Youth Club Secretary, Colin Corrigan on 07917729411 or Fiona Corrigan for the girls on 07940 568702.

Parnells would like to wish London Ladies all the best in their forth coming game against Carlow in the All Ireland Junior Championship Round 1 this Saturday at Ruislip.  Also wishing everyone an enjoyable summer and we hope that the Parnells youth players and their families going to Croke Park enjoy their day out.
