It’s ALL about the ABC!  On behalf of Parnells Youth, we would like to congratulate Provincial Council, the ABC organising committee, the CDA’s, the referees, all the volunteers and TCG for a fantastic event which has taken place over the last few days.  It is marvellous to see all the young teams from schools and clubs form different areas and counties come together to compete in a competitive but respectful environment.  Definitely, the true winner’s here are both the games of football and hurling.

Parnells had 12 boy’s teams and u12 girls playing from U8 to U18.  We know it takes a massive effort from the parents to get them there and the club is truly thankful to them as we are to all our coaches who advised, encouraged and looked after them throughout the day.  The highlights for the club started when many of our players with Salvatorian College won the Yr. 9 and 10 age groups.  Captain Eoghan Reilly accepted the trophy.  On the Saturday, one of our U12 teams won the Shield competition and then on Sunday, the U18’s won the Cup in a thrilling and nail biting final which went to extra time and saw a victory beating St Brendans 2-19 to 2-11.  Both teams had fantastic players and took their scores accurately under pressure.  Parnells dug deep in the second half of extra time and added vital points to secure the win, a great game.

A successful week for the Senior men as well.  Two wins, one in the League beating St Clarets and a brilliant semi-final game against TCG in the Conway Cup. Leading by two points at half time and securing a win by 2 points 1-16 to 2-11.  They will meet KKG in the final this Thursday in Ruislip.  Good luck lads.

Training:  Seniors training Tues only this week due to the Conway Cup Final in Northwick Park, 7.30 – 9.00pm.  Always happy to welcome new players to an established and sociable club.  Please contact Senior Secretary Dennis Diggins on 07768352680.  Lifts can be arranged.  The U6/8/10 and U12 Girls have sessions on a Wednesday from 6.30-7.30/7.45pm.  U12 Boys-Thursday’s 6.30-7.45pm, U14’s-Tuesday 6.15-7.30pm, U16’s-Tuesday 6.30 – 7.45pm.  Minors linking up with the Seniors for their training sessions.  To attend any of the above training sessions contact Youth Club Secretary, Colin Corrigan on 07917729411 or Fiona Corrigan for the girls on 07940 568702.

Parnells would like to extend their condolences to Bernard Callanan and his family on the loss of his sister, Breedge Shaughnessy from Gort, Co Galway.  May she rest in peace.

Next youth club meeting 19/7/17 8.15pm, The Green Man, Kingsbury.
