The All Britain Competitions (ABC's)

As the sun shone down on Greenford last weekend thousands of people gathered together for the 6th annual All Britain Competitions which was a mighty success. The ABC is a sport filled and cultural family four day event with tournaments of Gaelic Football, Hurling/Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football for children from U-8 up to U-18 (U6 Hurlers) from across Britain. A total of Two thousand and sixty two children registered to play in games starting with Primary schools on Thursday and finishing up on Sunday evening with a nail biting final in the U18 competitions. This was truly a spectacular social event for all the children and youths who participated in games with great enjoyment in a safe secure and competitive environment. Congratulations to all the winners and to all who participated in the games. Those to be commended for all their hard work would be Chairman Michael Kingston, Secretary Brendie Brien and all Provincial Council, the ABC organising committee, Lloyd Colfer and the CDA’s, Mark Gottsche, the Referees, Coaches, Medical Team, Anne Jayne, Tina Tracey all the amazing volunteers and anyone who helped out in any way in helping make it such a success. A big thanks to all the sponsors. The parents support is always greatly appreciated. Thanks to The newspapers Irish World and Post and to Jerome and his son for all the videos. A big thanks must go to all at TCG Club for the use of all facilities and to Tom Mohan, Maurice Carr, Michael Coffey, Darren Nolan, Tom Togher and Alan Walsh and his team for incredible catering. Over from Ireland we had the support of Chair of Coaching and Games Frank Burke, Camogie Club and Education Support Co-ordinator Kathleen Egan, LGFA National Development Manager Paula Prunty and LGFA National Development Officer Lyn Savage. The Liam MacCarthy and Sam Maguire and Ladies Brendan Martin Cup were all on display where the children and adults alike took great pleasure to hold in their possession or having photographs.
