Dulwich Harps club notes 12th June 2017

The senior men’s team suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost to Thomas McCurtains in the Mularkey Cup quarter final. The Harps started the game well and scored three unanswered points however McCurtains battled back into the game and a goal on the stroke of halftime left the scores level at the break.

The blues started the second half sluggishly and a number of scores from McCurtains opened up a wind assisted lead which seemed to be unassailable. However to the Harps credit they fought back and ended up loosing the game by a single point on the score line of 1-08 to 0-10.

However the team cannot dwell on this loss as the games are coming thick and fast. On Tuesday 13th of June they will face Brother Pearse in a round 4 league fixture. The game is scheduled to take place on Peckham Rye Common with a throw in time of 19:15

Then on Thursday 15th of June the lads will take on Moindearg in the semi-final of the McArdle Cup in Wormwood Scrubs. This game has been scheduled for a 19:15 throw in time.

Training has been postponed this week but continues for the men’s team on Tuesday and Thursday evenings @ 19:15 on Peckham Rye Common. For more information contact Alan (07472 211445) or Enda (07522 723765).

The ladies unfortunately lost to Kingdom Kerry Gaels Sunday in Greenford in a first round championship match. The girls have a friendly game scheduled against Thomas McCurtains on Wednesday 14th June in Goodmayes. Throw in time to be confirmed.

Training continues for the Ladies at Peckham Rye Common on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm.

For more information please contact Aisling on 07961 577433 or email us at dulwichharpsladies@gmail.com

This event will be aimed at giving ex-players and non-players the opportunity to dawn the boots and head out for a kick about with our current crop of men’s and ladies in a what is shaping up to be a great days craic! The format of the tournament will involve mixed teams with a minimum of TWO girls be required on the field of play at any given time and a maximum of THREE current men’s players being permitted at any given time.

There will be a number of other games and activities taking place on the day including; a puc fada, free taking competition, tug o’war etc.

To enter a team or to simply sign up as an individual, please email dulwichharpspro@gmail.com or contact Ronan on 07523 724877 or James on 07713831446.
