Football action continued in the Parnells camp this past week; in action on two occasions and great wins in both games.  Firstly the Senior side played Neasden Gaels in the Tipperary Cup with a score of 3 –13 to 2-04.  The scores were spread evenly seeing 8 different players hit the net or put it over the bar:  Steve Devine 0-1, Ryan Forde 0-1, Jake Moran 0-1, Mathew Leneghan 1-0, Seamus Stenson 0-5, Connor Spinks 1-0, Dave O’Sullivan 0-4 and Eanna Flaherty-1-1.  This sees them through to the semi-final of the Tipperary Cup.  The second win was by the reserve side beating Eire Og 1-11 to 0-6.  The football on the field was balanced with a social get together at Buckleys in Queensbury to see the formal presentation by Noreen Buckley to Parnells of this year’s training merchandise.  Parnells wanted to thank Noreen for her support and presented a Parnells top in a glass presentation case to her.  This was followed by some of the Minors receiving outstanding championship medals.

Training at Northwick Park for the Seniors is very well attended on Tuesdays from 7.30 – 9.00pm.  Always happy to welcome new players to an established and sociable club.  Please contact Senior Secretary Dennis Diggins on 07768352680.  Lifts can be arranged.

On the youth side of the club, the U14’s had two games scheduled.  Monday night saw a walkover to them against St Kiernan’s and on Friday night a narrow defeat against Taras in another closely contested game, Parnells 2-7 Tara 4-3.  A last minute goal by the Tara’s gave them the win.  The u12’s went to St Paul’s Academy for another blitz in their League, winning 1 and losing 2 games but played very well.

This week sees 3 of our Senior players in the last training sessions before they face Leitrim in the Connacht Senior Football Championship this Sunday in McGovern Park, Ruislip.  We’d like to wish Greg Crowley (West Meath), Martin Carroll (Louth) and Jarlath Branagan (Down) the very best of luck along with the rest of the London squad.  In addition to that as part of the opening of the upgraded venue, we have 4 members of our youth section representing Parnells in exhibition games.  They are U10 Boys-Ronan Carolan and Ryan Moran and U12 Girls-Emer Fadian and Brea Corrigan.  Our representative flag bearer for the occasion is Niall O’Brien.  Hoping everyone has a memorable day on what promises to be a marvellous occasion.

Training for the Youth section remains unchanged as the season gets underway.  The U6/8/10 have sessions on a Wednesday from 6.30-7.30/7.45pm. The U12 Girls and their programme ‘Gaelic 4 Girls’ also taking place on a Wednesday 6.30-7.30pm.  U12 Boys-Thursday’s 6.30-7.45pm, U14’s-Tuesday 6.15-7.30pm, U16’s-Tuesday 6.30 – 7.45pm.  Minors linking up with the Seniors for their training sessions.  To attend any of the above training sessions contact Youth Club Secretary, Colin Corrigan on 07917729411 or Fiona Corrigan for the girls on 07940 568702.  A great response to the handing in of membership forms to date but there are still some outstanding, please ensure they are completed and passed to your manager as soon as possible.

Forthcoming Events:  Youth section has their meeting this Wednesday 24th May, 8.15pm in the Green Man in Kingsbury.

The clubs extends its sincere condolences to the Kingsnorth family on the passing of Olivia’s grandfather.  May he rest in peace.

As the exam season continues for our older players, we wish all of them continued good wishes and every success as they put pen to paper.  For all Parnells Club activity, please visit our website http://www.parnellsgaa.com where further details and information is published.
