The next meeting London Youth Committee meeting will take place on Monday the 20th of June 2016 at 8 30pm at Irish Tv GAA Grounds, West End Road, Ruislip, HA4 6QX

Safeguarding Course
London GAA will run a Safeguarding Course on Saturday the 18th of June from 10am- 1pm at Irish TV GAA Grounds, Ruislip. This Course is limited to 25 people and in the interest of fairness, only accept 5 nominations from each Club. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis so please contact the CDA Lloyd Colfer 078 72600073  if you are interested in attending.
Finally, under the new guidelines from the Provincial Council of Britain GAA, anyone involved with teams that have players under the age of 18 must be DBS certified, complete a Coaching Course and also, a Safeguarding Course so it is imperative that we get as many people as possible to attend these Courses over the coming weeks and months before the season starts as there will be a zero tolerance policy on this from the London County Board and the Provincial Council going forward.

Tara GFC U12's Trip to Mayo

Tara Youths GFC took to a trip for the U12's to Breaffy House Hotel in Mayo last weekend with a party of 60 with 23 of those children making up two Tara Teams. It was great to see London and Tara President Proinnsias Redican along with his wife Mary accompanied them on the trip. On Saturday Breaffy GAA Club were hosts to an U12 tournament with a total of eight teams taking part were two Tara teams, one team from Ballaghaderreen, two teams from Knockmore, two teams from Breaffy and one team from St Vincents. The hosting club Breaffy beat Tara in the Cup Final which was a nail biting game that could have went either way. Tara defeated St Vincents from Longford in the Shield Final another close fought game with Tara coming out on top.Thanks to Mayo footballers Aidan O' Shea for presenting the cups to the winning teams. The children were very excited to be taken on a visit to McHale Park in Mayo to see where all the action happens. The children really enjoyed the trip and the club would like to thanks the hosts Breaffy for their hospitality and kindness shown to all on their visit. Thanks a million to all the sponsors who donated to the Tara Golf day on the 30th of April this money helped the children make this very memorable and successful trip to Mayo.

All Britain Competitions (ABC's) for 2016
All Britain Competitions (ABC's) will take place from Thursday the 7th of July to Sunday the 10th of July at Tir Chonaill Gaels Grounds, Berkeley Avenue, Greenford, Middlesex UB6 0NZ.
Sam Maguire and Liam MacCarthy coming ‘home’ as Cups take Pride of Place again at GAA All Britain Championship Tournament. It will attract almost 2000 youth participants from schools and GAA Clubs all over England, Scotland, and Wales with an invitation cross- community Ulster team, Cúchulainns participating. The Tournament will be graced this year again by the presence of the Liam MacCarthy and Sam Maguire Cups. The presence of the Cups named in their honour in London could not be more appropriate in the year of the 100th Anniversary of 1916. It will also include an extra day of competition. The presence of the two cups resonates deeper than the notoriety of their names. They highlight the enormous contribution of the GAA community in Britain in the development of the organisation. The full contribution Britain made to the GAA is not popularly and fully known. Many would be surprised to know that the contribution of both Sam Maguire and Liam MacCarthy was made almost entirely in Britain with many others at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th Century, a period when London won the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship in 1901 (see attached from ABC Programme for full article about Liam MacCarthy and Sam Maguire)
The importance of the ABC tournament can be demonstrated by those attending from GAA Headquarters in Croke Park. At this stage it is anticipated that those present will include: Aogán Ó Fearghail, President of the GAA, Michael Hasson, President of the  Council of Ulster and Vice –President of GAA, Helen O Roarke, CEO Ladies Games, Pat Daly, Director of Games, and Frank Burke, Head of Coaching and Games. The games will also be attended by Irish Ambassador, Dan Mulhall, and Celine Byrne of the Irish Abroad Unit, Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Games Schedules for this year’s tournament are as follows:
On Thursday 7th of July at 10.30am for Primary Schools
On Friday 8th of July at 10.30am Secondary Schools at 3.00pm U-8/10 Boys Gaelic Football;
On Saturday 9th of July at 10.30am and U-12/16 Boys Gaelic Football; Ladies Gaelic Football (All Ages);
On Sunday 10th of July at 10.30am U-14/18 Boys Gaelic Footbal Hurling/Camogie (All Ages).
