Hurling for the youths

London GAA will be hosts to an Underage Hurling Day on Saturday, April 30th in Ruislip from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. as part of the London GAA 1916 Commemorations. Damien Curley (Connacht GAA) will be over for the day to work with all of our young Gaels who are interested in Hurling. Boys and Girls from 6 - 16 are invited regardless of experience, we will cater for the beginner right up to expert.

Registration begins at 9.30 a.m. and after that the children will be divided into three groups 6-9 year olds, 10 - 12 years olds and 12+ year olds. There will be three coaching stations in the morning and the groups will spend 35-40 minutes at each station. Lunch break from 12.00 - 12.30 so all children are asked to bring a packed lunch. The Clubhouse will be open for any children/parents who wish to use the facilities. From 12.30 - 2.00, the children will be split in to teams and will play a mini-blitz to put the new skills that they have learned into practice. I would encourage as many of you as possible to get to Ruislip on the day and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

St Kiernans Mayo Trip.

Congratulations to all the boys and girls who traveled to Mayo the first weekend of April to play in the U10 blitz in Castlebar on Saturday. The travelling party arrived in the Breaffy House Hotel on Friday and the players had a training session at 5.30pm with Eoin Sweeney and Eugene Lavin.

On Saturday the boys played in a blitz behind McHale Park in Castlebar and they played against teams from Bellmullet, Ballycroy, Lahardaum and Ballyhaunis. Our boys and girls played some great determined football with all players getting some good game time and they won 3 games and lost to a good Ballycroy team. The players got to meet Mayo Footballers Aidan O Shea and Rob Hennelly who came along to the blitz on Saturday and both men were happy to talk to the players and share their knowledge of the game. On Saturday night a special awards dinners where all the players received their individual awards and they were congratulated our their display earlier in the day as both their performance and behaviour made both their club and parents very proud. The dinner concluded with a magical singing performance from young Patrick Coggins. On Sunday all parents and players attend the Mayo V Down in McHale Park and our players were able to shout out encouragement to their new best friends Aidan and Rob. After the match all the boys and girls were able to run on to the pitch and meet all the Mayo and Down players.
