London Youth Committee notes

The next meeting London Youth Committee meeting will take place on Monday the 18th of April 2016 at 8 30pm at Irish Tv GAA Grounds, West End Road, Ruislip, HA4 6QX Can all the Hurling Clubs please attend the meeting beforehand at 8pm sharp.


U12/14 London 1916 Tournament

Last Saturday the 2nd of April at Tir Chonaill Gaels in Greenford London were host to a 1916 tournament where an U12 and U14 teams and supporters traveled over  from Roanmore in Co Waterford. Five teams participated with two teams U12 and U14 from Roanmore, U14 St Clarets, U14 Parnells and U12 Tara's. In spite of the wet weather six games were played with ten minutes a side. 

In the U-12 games - Roanmore 2-0 Tara 1-0, Roanmore 3-1 Tara 1-1

In the U-14 games - Roanmore 1-3 Parnells 0-6, Roanmore 4-4 St.Clarets 3-1, Parnells defeated St Clarets and then in the final game was Roanmore 2-4 Parnells 0-3. Thanks to Coleen Lynott for refereeing the games and to London's CDA Lloyd Colfer for over seeing the tournament which was a great success.


London GAA 1916 Rising Commemorations

Please keep the weekend of the Saturday the 30th of April to Monday the 1st of May free as London GAA will be commemorating the 100th Centenary Year of the 1916 Rising with lots of Hurling/football Ceoil agus Craic to be enjoyed by all family and friends. Tickets £10 Seniors / Students £5 Children U16 free Tickets available from secretary.london@gaa.ie (Ticket covers all the weekends events)

On Saturday 30th April Youth U10-12 Blitz  at Irish TV GAA Grounds in Ruislip from 10am till 2pm 
Tara Camogie 7's Saturday 30th April at TCG in Greenford All day
Special Commemorative Hurling Challenge Match Bros Pearse v Thomas McCurtain’s (TBC) – 5pm 
On Saturday evening 30th April Irish TV GAA Grounds in Ruislip from 7pm - an evening of traditional music - Ceoil agus Craic (Musicians invited to attend)
On Sunday 1st May at Ruislip
1.15pm London Juniors v Lancashire (TBC)
3pm London v Louth - 1916 Commemoration Cup 
Half Time Mini Exhibition – Youth Committee
5pm London Development Squad v (TBC)
Special Commemoration Cup / Vase presented to the winning teams
On Monday 2nd May – Ruilsip
London Ladies 7’s Tournament 


Club Leadership Development Programme for Club Officers

The GAA's National Officer Development Committee is delighted to confirm details of the Club Leadership Development Programme (CLDP) that will take place in Irish TV GAA Grounds, West End Road, South Ruislip, London, HA4 6QXR, London on the 9th of April with Induction at 12 noon and finishing at 4.30pm. The CLDP -  is an exciting new training programme which will provide club officers with the key knowledge and skills to carry out their roles effectively. The programme represents a new interactive approach to officer training which involves a lot of discussions, case studies and group activities. Officers who complete the programme will:

- Gain a better understanding of what their role involves

- Develop basic leadership, management and communication skills

- Experience increased role satisfaction

- Have an awareness of where to access resources and supports

- Be able to share ideas and solve problems with fellow officers

- Be better prepared for future roles in the Association

- Get an online certificate for their learning

Hurling for the youths

London GAA will host a Hurling Super Centre for boys/girls in Greenford on Saturday the 30th of April at 12 Noon. All children are invited to attend wearing appropriate clothing and if you have any hurling equipment please bring it along with you. Some equipment will be provided for those who don't have any on the day.. This is a wonderful sport to get involved in and of course great social skills in meeting new people.
