Thomas McCurtains GAA Club Notes.

The club hosted their annual Dinner & Dance on Saturday in the Prince Regent Hotel in Chigwell. Thanks to the hotel staff who made it such a successful night and Graham Rowe for taking on the role of MC for the night. Thanks also to everyone who has volunteered their time and helped out at the club over the past year.

A huge congratulations to the Ladies footballers who picked up their medals from both the Championship and the Tom O'Connor Cup from last season. Well done to Catherine Barrett on being awarded Ladies Player of the Year 2015 and Claire Costello on receiving Most Improved Player.

Congratulations to the Hurling panel who picked up their medals for winning the McCullough Cup last year. Well done to Dave Enright on picking up the hurler of the year award.

Congratulations also go to Richard Ellis who won the Footballer of the year and to Alan Power how was named Clubman of the year.

Upcoming Events:

· Thomas McCurtains football, hurling and ladies football teams are travelling to Cork on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of April to play Passage West GAA Club in challenge matches.

· The Clubs Annual Golf Fundraiser – This will be held on Saturday 2nd July 2016. Last years was a great success and we hope to make this one even better. More details will be released later.

· The Clubs Annual Funday – Will be held on Saturday 16th July 2016.


Mens Football:

The footballers get their season under way this weekend in the first round of the McArdle Cup. Thomas McCurtains find themselves in Group One with Tara, Crawley and Brighton Gaels, Eire Og, and Shalloe Pearse. The first match is against Shalloe Pearse on Saturday 12th March at 3:30pm in Goodmayes.

Training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 pm in Goodmayes pitch (Post code: IG3 8FE). All new players are welcome. Please contact Martin Keyes (07712 106 349) for further details.


Ladies Football:

Ladies training will take place this week on Tuesdays & Thursdays in Goodmayes pitch (Post code: IG3 8FE) at 7pm. All new players are welcome. Please contact Finnian O'Dowd (07966 806 011) for further details.


Camogie:

Camogie training continues in East London Rugby Club (E15 3BP) on Saturday morning at 11am.

The ladies had a very successful start to their season in the All Britain 9 a-side, winning their 3 group matches to top the group. They were unfortunate to lose in the semi-final against Croydan but with great performances from experienced and new players alike, the team can look forward confidently for the coming season. Congratulations to all involved particularly Martin and Jimmy on their managerial debut and captain on the day, Michelle Dolan.

Saturday 5th March 2016 - Thomas McCurtains GAA training sessions @ Thurrock Rugby club – 12pm to 1.30pm - Address Oakfield ,Long Lane Grays Essex RM16 2QH

Wednesday 13th April – Under age training to commence in Goodmayes 7pm to 8.15pm - U6 to U16

Saturday 16th April – Proposed presentation evening for 2015 county players U14 to U18 - registration event ( Proposed venue TBC)


New Players:

New players are always very welcome to join our friendly club. We have Gaelic Football & Hurling teams for both men and ladies from u-8s up to Adults. We are based in East London; the club covers a wide area and current players live in many different areas, including, Gants Hill, Woodford, Leyton, Leytonstone, Stratford, Romford, Dagenham, Brentwood & Chelmsford as well as many other areas. Transport to and from training and pick-up from stations can be arranged, if required.
