London GAA Foundation Level duel Football and Hurling Course
London GAA Foundation Level duel Football and Hurling Course
February 05, 2018
On Saturday, February 3rd London GAA hosted a Foundation Level duel Football and Hurling Course. This Course is the first step on the GAA coaching ladder. The Course was very popular with 14 people participating. The Course was in high demand as by January 2018, all coaches are expected to be of a Foundation Level coaching standard which is important for working with underage teams. The Course was run by Lloyd Colfer CDA of London GAA. This particular course was aimed at beginner coaches who have little experience coaching Gaelic Games and will enable participants to assist a coach in the development of the GAA. The Course was attended by a range of London clubs who are keen to progress and develop more coaches. The Foundation Award is the introductory award for coaches of Gaelic Games. The Course covers four key modules which include, introduction to games, skill development, movement skills, coaching children, youths and adults. Following the Course participants will be able to assist a coach in organising a programme of games and skill development activities, identify the skills of Gaelic Games, assist a coach in organising activities such as drills and fun games for children, assist a coach in organising and managing players for an effective practice session and finally build rapport, observe, analyse, explain, provide demonstrations and provide positive feedback to players. Many thanks to all involved including this year’s London GAA interns from Waterford Institute of technology who were a great help throughout the day. For anyone interested in undertaking a Foundation Course, we are hosting another in January with details on our twitter page @LONDAINGAA
