St. Brendan's through to final of Sean Shield Cup
St.Brendans and North London Shamrocks met for the second time on warm humid Tuesday night in the semi-final of the Sean Shield Cup.
Straight from throw-in, the Brendan's meant business. Niall Campbell smashed in a goal and tagged on a few points. He was supported during the first half drive by points from Fergal Casey and Paddy Bowles. To top it off, Andy Hayes chipped in with two fine points.
However, the good work was somewhat undone with a defensive mix-up let North London Shamrocks in for a goal and made the half time score St. Brendan's 1-8 to 1-4.
Brendan's continue to control possession in the second half, with Andy Hayes again showing his quality, picking the ball out by the corner flag, holding off two men to sling the ball over the bar from a tight angle. North London Shamrocks never gave in and chipped away into the St.Brendan's lead.
Indeed, they were rewarded a penalty which was heroically saved by Anthony Reddy.
Unlucky for Shamrocks, but it's the first final since 2006 that the Brendan's will contest against Heston Gaels as both clubs look to continue their rivalry.
Best for the Brendan's, Niall Campbell, Andy Hayes, Graeme Power and Damian Walsh.
